2023 Intensive Dahlia Dividing Workshop Located at Dreamland Flower Farm
A hands-on workshop for mastering the skill of dividing dahlia tubers.
Let’s dive right in… dahlias are worth saving from year to year. Dahlias are one of the most spectacular flowers. They are planted after the ground has warmed in the Spring and then lifted in late Fall in colder regions for winter storage. If you want to master the skill of dividing dahlia tubers this hands-on workshop is for you.
You are encouraged to bring your own clumps of freshly dug dahlias with dirt on them or use dahlias from Dreamland Flower Farm. We will wash some tubers but the main focus will be on dividing dahlia tubers. The goal of this class is to learn dahlia dividing skills with close supervision from Merrie. You will leave this workshop with confidence to work independently on your own dahlia tuber collection. The class size is significantly limited in-order to ensure each student receives the appropriate attention.
Please note: this is very specific skill set workshop that covers dividing dahlias exclusively. Previous students have requested this type of class and Dreamland Flower farm is excited to add this workshop to their offerings. If you would like to learn additional aspects about dahlias, please consider taking other workshops which are currently being offered.
Merrie Avallone has been growing dahlias for over 19 years. She has grown hundreds of varieties and understands the different growing habits of dahlia tubers. She is an expert on the techniques for Fall harvesting and overwintering dahlia tubers in the northeast. You will learn what method is best for you and your storing environment.

- Several new tubers to get your collection started.

This workshop is RAIN or SHINE.
Tickets are not refundable after being issued.
Please dress according to the weather temperatures. (In Layers)
The workshop will be conducted outside and in a sheltered area.
Please wear boots or cold weather garden footwear.
The class size is limited.
You will get dirty and have fun along the way.
