Almost five years ago I moved to Cromwell into a house with almost no gardens. Browsing through a garden group on Facebook I came across Merrie who was thinning her perennial garden and giving away perennials. Needless to say I went to pick up those plants. During my first meeting with Merrie, she offered me a gift...a dahlia tuber named "Gloriosa" . I didn't know dahlias had names, I called them red, pink and purple. There was no turning back from there... from constant questions, suggestions and comments on how to grow dahlias and to divide them, I've come a long way to loving dahlias. I love her terms of dividing them- you don't want to keep them too "fat and happy", you want them to work to produce more blooms. Merrie knows so much about dahlias you will be surprised.
