2023 Dahlia Hands-on Workshop Located at Dreamland Flower Farm:
A hands-on combination workshop: digging, dividing and storing dahlia tubers
Dahlias are one of the most spectacular flowers. They are planted after the ground has warmed in the Spring and then lifted in late Fall in colder regions. If you are interested in learning the process on how to “SAVE YOUR TUBERS”, then this workshop is for you. Whether you are a home gardener, a seasoned dahlia grower or you are new to dahlias- come learn the necessary steps you need to preserve your tubers and add to your amazing collection. All skill levels are welcome. Warning: along the way you may become more addicted to dahlias.
This is an informative hands-on workshop that takes you step by step through the entire process of preserving your dahlias tubers for the next the next growing season. The workshop covers three main concepts for preserving your dahlias. You will learn proper techniques for cutting down/digging/washing your dahlias, dividing them and most importantly-learning how to store them over the winter.

Merrie Avallone has been growing dahlias for over 19 years. She has grown hundreds of varieties and understands the different growing habits of dahlia tubers. She is an expert on the techniques for Fall harvesting and overwintering dahlia tubers in the northeast. You will learn what method is best for you and your storing environment.

Tickets are not refundable after being issued.
Please dress according to the weather temperatures. (In Layers)
The workshop will be conducted outside and in a sheltered area.
Please wear boots or cold weather garden footwear.
