Fall Dahlia Workshop Located at Scantic Valley Farm
A Hands-on workshop for digging, dividing and storing dahlia tubers
This is an informative workshop that takes you step by step through the entire process of preserving your dahlias tubers for the next the next growing season. You will learn proper techniques for cutting down your dahlias, digging your tubers, washing them, dividing them and most importantly-learning how to store them over winter for next season.

Dahlias are one of the most spectacular flowers. They are planted after the ground has warmed in the Spring and then lifted in late Fall. If you are interested in learning the process on how to “SAVE YOUR TUBERS”, then this workshop is for you. Whether you are a home gardener, a seasoned dahlia grower or you are new to dahlias- come learn the necessary steps you need to preserve your tubers and add to your amazing collection.

This workshop with be co-taught by Merrie from Dreamland Flower Farm and Nancy from Scantic Valley Farm. Merrie has been growing dahlias for over 17 years. She has tried numerous techniques for Fall harvesting and overwintering dahlia tubers. You will learn what method is best for you and your storing environment. Scantic Valley Farm is a simply breathtaking. Nancy will be educating us on field grown dahlias and dahlias from a hoop house. We will be digging fresh clumps of dahlias straight from the field. This is a hands- on workshop.
What is included:
- A brand-new pair of cutting snips, the same kind Merrie uses to divide her dahlias.
- A small storage bin with Vermiculite for your tubers
- Ten+ new tubers to get your collection started.
This workshop is RAIN or SHINE. Tickets will not be refunded after being issued.
Please dress according to the weather temperatures. (In Layers)
The workshop will be conducted outside and in a sheltered area.
A restroom will be available during the break.
Please wear boots or cold weather garden footwear.
The class size is limited for social distancing. Masks must be worn for everyone's safety.
You will get dirty and have fun along the way.
